JANUARY SIX WARNING: THE LAS VEGAS TERRORIST WANTED CIVIL WAR
The Pro-Trump Terrorist Demanded One Thing of His Sacrifice … Purge Democrats
The New Year’s Day terrorist attack carried out on the Trump International hotel in Las Vegas, using a rented Tesla cyber truck almost immediately dropped off of the radar of news media in the wake of the deaths of 15 innocent people in New Orleans.
In the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, former US Army Staff Sergeant Shamsud-Din Jabbar carried out an incident in which he used his vehicle as a weapon system. He drove down Bourbon Street running over and shooting people with an ISIS flag on his truck.
A few hours later an active-duty US Special Forces Master Sergeant named Matthew Livelsberger drove the cybertruck to the valet parking of Las Vegas’s Trump International Hotel. There he set a fuse to fireworks and gas canisters in the vehicle. As they exploded he shot himself in the head with a high-caliber pistol.
The vehicle blew up, but not with the force of high explosives. It wounded seven innocent bystanders. Initially, people wanted to know if the two attacks were linked. They were not.
The New Orleans attack was very obviously terrorism. A radicalized Muslim American ex-serviceman joined the Islamic State terrorist group on his initiative. With their guidance, he decided to mass murder his fellow citizens. I wrote extensively about this kind of radicalization in my 2015 New York Times bestseller “Defeating Isis.” However, self-radicalization attacks in the USA became extremely rare after the group was defeated in 2017.
On the other hand, individual attacks by right-wing extremists have grown exponentially. But unlike Muslims, the explosion of American-grown terrorists was discounted by the news media. Four years ago, this very day over 4,000 insurrectionists attacked the United States capital at the direction of President Donald Trump. Trump’s ability to mislead the news media let the meaning of domestic terrorism flip on its head. Suddenly, white right-wing terrorists were almost exclusively excused as being mentally ill, in a personal crisis, or suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. (PTSD).
Even I initially thought that a 19-year US Army special operations veteran who was months from retiring, and amid a divorce was carrying out the spectacular attack to relieve himself of the demons that were chasing him. He even discussed it in his letter to the world when he said “Why did I personally do it now? I needed to cleanse my mind of the brothers I’ve lost, and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I took.”
For a few days, all of the US media was brought into that framework. But in the last 48 hours, two letters written by Livelsberger clearly show that his attack on Trump International was deliberate terrorism. He was a terrorist. We should not refer to the incident as anything other than a terrorist attack.
Not surprisingly, he predicted that the media might see it as such and declared his destructive act terrorism-free.
He wrote “This was not a terrorist attack, it was a wakeup call. Americans only pay attention to spectacles and violence. What better way to get my point across than a stunt with fireworks and explosives?”
However, his second letter spelled out a more sinister intention.
